Sebelum saya lupa cerita cinta opa + andung

Once upon a time, there was a boy who weaved letters into words for a newspaper. One day he received a letter from one of his readers who shared the same sentiment against the Dutch who occupied their homeland.
Once upon a time there was a boy who agreed to meet a girl in their local market. She brought along her mother who waited patiently under the scorching sun while her daughter, around whom the fragrance of jasmine hung heavily in the air dated her favourite journalist at the corner of the market.
It was a Sunday and the market was buzzing with activities. They spent an entire evening together and when the sky grew dark, they parted with love in their hearts.
Once a upon time there was a boy who loved a girl and promised her, he would never love another girl as long as he lived.
Once upon a time there was a boy whose blue-blood family wanted him to marry off his cousin. He told his parents about a girl with a lovely smile; whose voice he wanted to spend his whole life listening. His father was upset and ordered him to leave the girl with the tinkling laugh.
They didn't see each other for months and one day, he appeared in front of the girl's house and asked for the girl's hand in marriage. For some reasons, the girl's father was reluctant to let her daughter marrying the boy. But it was the girl's mother, in a hush hush voice who suggested them to marry in a land far far away from home.
They travelled with the girl's mother who cried non-stop throughout their sea voyage from Sumatra to Tanah Melayu. With a heavy heart, the girl's mother left her daughter who used to have horde of servants who were at her beck and call to start a new life in a new world.
Be well my daughter, she said. Come back to our country when everything is fine...
Addendum : My grandparents came back to Indonesia after living a couple of years in exile. Their love story was an ill-fated; opa was killed during the Sumateran Revolution.
Here's to Tengku Dahrool + Chadijah; your love story is my inspiration. Satu hari nanti, saya juga akan ada satu love story seagung mereka. Ha ha ha :O
